SACRED CIRCLE INDIGENOUS KETAMINE PROGRAM
The Sacred Circle program is a six-week holistic program designed by Indigenous peoples for Indigenous peoples who want to redefine their relationship with alcohol and substance use. This program is based on Indigenous cultural health practices meant to support a transformational path towards strengthening relationships to self, to others, to land and to spirit. This program utilizes ketamine, a progressive approach found to have significant positive effects to support those struggling with addiction and mental health issues. This program includes talking circles, group therapy, and individualized counselling allowing those to work through their personal struggles while strengthening a supportive community with others who are going through similar experiences.
Utilizing xwelmexw practices, the program elements include talking circles, the incorporation of the four elements of earth, air, water, and fire, the use of traditional plant medicines, including tobacco for prayer and communication, sage for cleansing, sweetgrass for purifying and cedar for grounding, and cultural teachings and practices including time with Elders, storytelling, cultural making, and time on the land.
The Sacred Circle Program is incorporating the use of ketamine, an innovative approach found to have positive impacts for those with treatment-resistant depression, treatment-resistant anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and/or substance use disorder.
